Ball
In line with ball traditions, guests must always follow strict dress rules. Only black tie is allowed on the ball. Black tuxedo, white shirt and black bow tie are required.
Ball events are usually introduced by cocktail parties, but wearing cocktail dresses is not allowed.
For ladies, it is mandatory to wear a long ball gown throughout the evening.

Wedding
The nature of the invitation and the time given may give you guidance on the appropriate choice of wedding attire. When it comes to a formal afternoon event, ladies should wear a cocktail dress, a gentleman in a dark suit, a conservative shirt and a tie. At dinner the ladies wear cocktail dresses, men in dark suits, or in a tuxedo with the invitation.
For an informal afternoon reception, the ladies will stay in the cocktail dress, the men in the dark suit, jacket with a more elegant pants and tie. The tuxedo provides an elegant look at every wedding after 6 pm and it’s dance and dinner.
A classic black tuxedo with a shawl collar is the safest choice to wear, with a white collar shirt, bow tie, vest, or black or colorful Spanish belt.

Events
A különböző rendezvényeken formálisan akkor illik szmokingot viselni, amikor az esemény jellege, vagy a hagyomány megkívánja. Kötelezően pedig akkor, amikor az írásos meghívó is tartalmazza azt. Az utóbbi évtizedben a szmoking, azaz a black tie vált a társasági megjelenés szinte kötelező elemévé.
A szmoking formális alkalmi ruházat, amit az protokoll előírás szerint este 6 óra után ajánlatos viselni. Este 6 óra előtt kezdődő rendezvények esetében más öltözetet kell választani. Kétféle alternatívája elfogadott.
Az alternatív black tie és a kreatív black tie. Az alternatív black tie fekete szmokingot, fehér inget és fekete normál vagy csokornyakkendőt (ha lehet kézzel kötött) jelöl. A kreatív black tie pedig fekete garbót, színes bársonykabátot vagy nyitott gallért takar. Esküvőkre, operába, komolyzenei koncertekre vagy egy exkluzív vacsorára tökéletes választás.
Akkor válasszon szmoking viseletet, ha a meghívón a „black tie” kifejezés szerepel.
